Hello, I’m Lily.

I’m a watercolor and cut paper artist based in Redwood City, California.

My textural cut paper art explores themes of self-discovery, revisiting the past, and finding joy and encouragement in the present.

My style is meticulous yet free-spirited, blending organic forms with graphic design shapes, dynamic mark-making, and vibrant watercolor palettes.

I love creating tactile “painting with paper” experiences that spark intrigue and invite closer examination.

After 15 years in the corporate world, I pursued my passion to make art. I relaunched my career after my daughter’s birth with 12 animal cut paper paintings (her first introduction to animals), later expanding into floral and abstract works.

Today, I showcase my art at local events throughout the SF Bay Area. I’m doing what I love every day—and I’m just getting started!

About My Art

Abstract Art

My abstract works explore the experiences that shape us, forming complex and beautiful forms. Some pieces echo underwater worlds, inspired by the fluidity of watercolor, while others, with Bauhaus-inspired cutouts, leave room for imagination to fill in the gaps.

The Pebbles series celebrates a calm curiosity of “what if” — what if I carefully arrange these hand-painted, hand-cut watercolor paper pieces like this, or that? What visuals, emotions, or memories do they evoke?

The Strike a Pose series represents bold, colorful “power poses” as invitations and reminders to live colorfully and stay brave & curious, while you figure out where you belong in the world.

The Oyster series honors motherhood, mirroring oysters’ remarkable ability to withstand changes, overcome adversities, build habitats, and grow while nurturing precious pearls.

Botanical Art

Inspired by California’s stunning blooms, my botanical series captures the intricate shapes and negative spaces of plants. With bold colors and expressive mark-making, each piece brings the beauty of nature and our colorful world into focus.

Animal Art

My animal art began as a personal project for my daughter’s nursery. What started with 12 animal cut-paper paintings in 2022 has since grown into a full-fledged collection, with commissioned pieces bringing new animal characters to life.
